New Regional Mental Health Plan Launched in South Western Sydney

New Regional Mental Health Plan Launched in South Western Sydney

05 May 2026

The plan has been developed through a partnership between the South Western Sydney Primary Health Network and the South Western Sydney Local Health District. It aims to guide coordinated mental health and suicide prevention efforts across the region for the next five years.

The launch event included representatives from hospitals, primary care, community organisations, and people with lived experience of mental health challenges. The focus was on working together to improve support and services across the region.

The plan sets shared priorities to improve access to care, strengthen links between services, and make sure community needs are at the centre of decision-making.

It builds on previous work in the region that brought different services together to improve coordination and outcomes for people experiencing mental health issues.

Leaders at the event said ongoing collaboration between health and community services will be important in creating a more connected and person-focused mental health system across South Western Sydney.
