New Partnership Strengthens First Nations Healthcare in South Western Sydney
27 Jul 2026
The organisations officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 25 June, creating a formal framework to work together on improving health outcomes and access to culturally safe care.
The agreement focuses on building a stronger strategic partnership, improving access to healthcare, supporting culturally safe services, and encouraging more GPs and health professionals to work with First Nations communities. It also promotes stronger relationships with local primary care providers, two-way referral pathways, Aboriginal health training, and registrar placements.
As part of the agreement, TACAMS will continue providing advice through SWSPHN Aboriginal advisory groups and support medical registrar training in First Nations health. SWSPHN will work to improve cultural safety across mainstream primary healthcare services while advocating for funding and initiatives that benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in South Western Sydney.
Following the signing, members of the SWSPHN Board toured the TACAMS facility in Airds to learn more about the range of healthcare and community services available to local First Nations people.
