GP Spotlight: Dr Dina Jamil’s Commitment to Lifelong Patient Care

04 Aug 2026

Dr Jamil works at Landmark Family Medical and Dental Centre in Hoxton Park. She began her medical career in Goulburn, where she practised for six years before moving to Sydney. She has been caring for patients in South Western Sydney for the past nine years.

She decided to pursue general practice during her second year of residency at Concord Hospital after recognising the important role GPs play as the first point of contact in the healthcare system.

Dr Jamil said general practice allows her to care for patients of all ages, manage both acute and chronic conditions, coordinate ongoing treatment, and provide preventive care, women’s health services, mental health support and minor procedures within the community.

She believes continuity of care is one of the greatest strengths of general practice. Caring for individuals and families over many years allows strong relationships to develop while helping patients achieve better long-term health outcomes.

Dr Jamil said her practice is committed to making healthcare accessible by operating as a fully bulk-billing clinic. The practice has six full-time GPs, is open six days a week, and offers on-site pathology, registered nurses, podiatry services, nearby pharmacy access and radiology services within the same complex.

She also highlighted the importance of culturally appropriate care, with many members of the practice team speaking languages other than English to better support the local community.

Outside of work, Dr Jamil enjoys reading, hiking, travelling and swimming to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

She said working in South Western Sydney gives her the opportunity to support a diverse community, particularly patients living with chronic health conditions, while benefiting from strong primary care networks and ongoing professional development.

Her advice to patients is to focus on prevention by attending regular GP check-ups, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, staying physically active, eating a balanced diet, participating in recommended screening programs and seeking medical advice rather than relying on online symptom searches.
