Occupational therapist shares holistic approach to supporting local communities
03 Aug 2026
Rebecca co-founded Wildflower Holistic Services to provide occupational therapy that looks beyond a person's diagnosis and focuses on their overall wellbeing. The service supports children, adults and families by helping them build practical skills and improve participation in everyday life.
She believes occupational therapists play an important role in helping people achieve their personal goals by understanding their individual strengths, challenges and daily routines. Working collaboratively with clients and other healthcare professionals allows care to be tailored to each person's circumstances.
Rebecca says collaboration across healthcare services is essential for achieving the best outcomes. By working alongside GPs, allied health professionals, educators and families, occupational therapists can deliver more coordinated and effective care.
Providing services in the Tahmoor region has also highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare for local communities. Rebecca says building trusted relationships with clients and understanding the needs of the local area are important parts of delivering meaningful support.
Reflecting on her work, Rebecca says helping people gain confidence and independence is one of the most rewarding parts of being an occupational therapist. She encourages healthcare professionals to continue learning, value teamwork and always keep the individual at the centre of care.
