TGA orders sunscreen company to stop supply over regulatory breach
23 Apr 2026
Regulators say the company was manufacturing and distributing sunscreens under one approved listing, but selling them under different product names that did not match the registered entry. This means those products are considered unapproved for supply in Australia.
Under Australian law, all therapeutic goods, including sunscreens, must be listed on the ARTG before they can be legally sold, unless specific exemptions apply.
The TGA says accurate product naming is essential so products can be correctly identified, tracked for safety issues, and recalled if needed. It also helps ensure that products are not misleading in terms of their approved use.
The enforcement action requires Veganic SKN to immediately stop supplying the affected sunscreens. Existing stock must be set aside for relabelling or repackaging so it matches the approved ARTG details. If this cannot be done, the products must be destroyed.
The regulator has warned that failure to comply with the direction may result in further legal action, including civil or criminal penalties.
The TGA has also recently updated guidance for industry and consumers on correct sunscreen labelling practices.
