RACGP Reports Strong Results in Latest Fellowship Exams

The latest RACGP exam results show that most candidates were successful in the 2026.2 exam cycle.
The Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and Key Feature Problem (KFP) exams were held on 3 and 4 July 2026, with thousands of candidates taking part.
Of the 1,187 candidates who sat the AKT, the average score was 74.99%, with 80.2% passing.
For the KFP, 1,162 candidates sat the exam. The average score was 68.75%, while the overall pass rate was 80.64%.
RACGP KFP National Assessment Advisor Dr Melanie Considine said the results showed that candidates were generally well prepared for the exam.
The KFP pass rate was slightly below the 84.19% recorded in the 2026.1 cycle but close to the 79.57% recorded in 2025.2.
RACGP AKT National Assessment Advisor Dr Sharnti Caulley said the latest AKT results also reflected the strong performance seen in recent exam cycles.
The number of AKT candidates increased from 1,117 in the 2026.1 cycle to 1,187 in 2026.2.
Dr Caulley said most candidates showed a strong understanding of the broad knowledge assessed in the AKT. She also highlighted the importance of being well prepared before sitting the exam.
First-time candidates had higher pass rates than those sitting the exam for a second or third time.
For the 2026.2 AKT, the pass rates were:
- First attempt: 85.9%
- Second attempt: 62.5%
- Third attempt: 70.9%
For the 2026.2 KFP, the pass rates were:
- First attempt: 86.51%
- Second attempt: 58.16%
- Third attempt: 50%
Dr Considine said the results continue to show that candidates are more likely to succeed on their first attempt, highlighting the importance of thorough preparation.
The RACGP recommends that candidates use its Exam Preparation Toolkit, Self-Assessment Progress Tests and public exam reports when preparing.
Candidates are also encouraged to focus on current Australian clinical guidelines and references.
The next exam cycle will include the 2027.1 AKT on 15 January 2027 and the 2027.1 KFP on 16 January 2027.
