TGA Highlights New Medicine Safety Updates for June 2026
20 Jul 2026
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has published its latest Product Information (PI) safety updates for June 2026, reflecting new safety information identified through ongoing monitoring of medicines used in Australia.
The TGA works with medicine sponsors to update Product Information whenever new evidence becomes available. These updates help ensure health professionals and consumers have access to the latest safety advice.
Safety information is identified through adverse event reports, Risk Management Plans (RMPs), Periodic Safety Update Reports (PSURs), scientific literature, and information shared by international regulators and Australian health authorities.
Updated Product Information may include changes to approved indications, new contraindications, strengthened warnings and precautions, advice for pregnancy and breastfeeding, guidance for special patient groups, or updated information on adverse effects.
The TGA advises healthcare professionals to review these updates carefully, as they may require changes to prescribing decisions, additional patient counselling, closer monitoring, or consideration of alternative treatment options.
For significant safety issues, medicine sponsors may also issue Dear Health Care Professional Letters to communicate important changes directly to clinicians.
The TGA will continue publishing monthly Medicines Safety Update articles to highlight recent Product Information safety changes and support the safe use of medicines across Australia.
