PBAC updates guidance on broad cancer medicine listings

12 Oct 2026

The guidance applies to programmed cell death-1/programmed death ligand-1 (PD-(L)1) inhibitors, a group of medicines used to treat cancer. The Department of Health published the original fact sheet in June 2026 to explain the principles companies should follow when applying for listings covering multiple cancer types.

At its September 2026 intracycle meeting, the PBAC encouraged companies to consult clinicians and consumer groups early when preparing summaries of clinical evidence for these applications.

The committee also recommended including feedback from these groups alongside the summary of clinical evidence.

The updated fact sheet is available on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) website.
