PBS Updates Diltiazem Capsule Substitution Rules During Shortage

Under the new arrangements, pharmacists may provide capsules in a different strength that delivers an equivalent dose, provided the required conditions are met.
The changes follow the release of a 2026 instrument covering the serious shortage of diltiazem and apply for the period specified under the shortage arrangements.
Diltiazem Sandoz CD 180 mg and 360 mg are not included because both brands were discontinued in 2024.
