Gold Coast Man Fined After Practising While Suspended

21 May 2026

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) investigated the case and found the man kept seeing patients despite being banned from practising. He was convicted of three charges and fined a total of $29,000, along with $2,000 in legal costs.

The court heard the man, who owns several clinics, directed patients to pay in cash or bank transfer and did not tell them he was suspended. He also used the billing details of other registered chiropractors when making claims.

Magistrate Stephen Kissick said the man showed “complete disregard” for regulatory rules and described his actions as deceptive.

The man’s chiropractic registration was first suspended in December 2021 due to serious health and safety concerns. Despite this, he continued to work between 2021 and 2024.

He was previously prosecuted in 2024 for similar offences and fined $15,000, although no conviction was recorded at that time.

A later investigation found he continued practising again, leading to additional charges in 2026 and the latest conviction.

Ahpra CEO Justin Untersteiner said health practitioners must follow regulatory decisions to keep the public safe. He also reminded the public that anyone can check a practitioner’s registration and restrictions on the national register.

Australia has around 7,000 registered chiropractors listed on the public register.
