Feedback sought on proposed changes to NDIS access

The proposed reforms are part of broader efforts to strengthen the NDIS and improve how it operates, while continuing to provide necessary support to people with disability.
The changes aim to make NDIS access decisions clearer, fairer and more consistent by placing greater focus on how a person’s disability affects their everyday life.
The consultation is seeking views from NDIS participants, people with disability, families, carers, providers, advocates, peak bodies and other community members.
Feedback is being sought on proposed access processes, evidence requirements and draft guiding principles.
The responses will help the Technical Advisory Group for NDIS functional capacity develop advice for the Australian Government. They will also help ensure the experiences of people with disability are considered when shaping future NDIS changes.
Public consultation is open until 11.59pm AEDT on 2 October 2026.
