Company fined in first Ahpra prosecution for failing to cooperate

24 Apr 2026

Siena Beauty Pty Ltd pleaded guilty to not providing requested information during an investigation into a registered health practitioner.

The company had been issued a formal notice requiring financial records linked to the sale of supplements and use of alternative treatments. Despite being given multiple extensions, it did not supply the documents or provide a valid reason.

The case was heard in a WA court on 21 April 2026, where Magistrate Andrew Matthews fined the company $2,500 and ordered it to pay $5,000 in legal costs.

Ahpra CEO Justin Untersteiner said the outcome reinforces the regulator’s authority to require information during investigations and warned that non-compliance is a criminal offence.

Further concerns about the practitioner involved have been referred to the Medical Board of Australia.
