Australian Respiratory Specialist Honoured with International Bronchiectasis Award

08 Jul 2026

The international award honours mid-career professionals who have made a lasting impact on improving care and outcomes for people living with bronchiectasis.

Mark Brooke congratulated Associate Professor Burr, describing her as a dedicated leader whose work has strengthened research collaboration and advanced respiratory care in Australia and internationally.

Associate Professor Burr is Chair of the Australasian Bronchiectasis Consortium, where she leads research and clinical initiatives aimed at improving treatment and patient outcomes across the region.

A respiratory physician and researcher, her work focuses on improving the everyday care of people with bronchiectasis and chronic lung disease. Her research has helped improve the understanding of long-term macrolide therapy and supports the development of safer treatment approaches.

She also leads clinical trials that give patients access to emerging therapies and contributes to guideline development and registry-based research to help improve future care.

This is the second major recognition of her work in recent years, following the inaugural Professor Christine Jenkins AM Woman of Influence in Lung Health Award in 2024.
