Winter vaccine push launched to protect older Australians
27 Apr 2026
As people get older, their risk of becoming seriously ill or needing hospital care from these viruses increases. Even those in good health can experience severe symptoms.
Keeping vaccinations up to date can lower the chances of serious illness and related complications.
The campaign, ‘Vaccination is the best preparation’, focuses on raising awareness about the risks linked to influenza, COVID-19 and RSV, while highlighting the benefits of timely vaccination for older people.
A First Nations version of the campaign—‘Get ready for winter. Get vaccinated’—has also been created, using culturally appropriate messaging and visuals to support community engagement.
The campaign will run nationwide across TV, radio, print, online platforms, billboards and community posters. Materials have also been translated to reach culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
