WA Launches New Network to Prevent Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

14 May 2026

The new network will bring together health professionals, community groups, and other stakeholders to work on preventing FASD. It will also help share research, tools, and best practice approaches across Western Australia and other parts of Australia.

FASD is a lifelong condition caused by alcohol exposure during pregnancy, and prevention efforts focus on raising awareness and supporting healthy choices before and during pregnancy.

The initiative builds on existing government investment, including public awareness campaigns, education programs, and community-based grants aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm.

Officials say the new network will strengthen collaboration and support more consistent messaging and resources to help prevent FASD across the state.
