Victorian Government extends allied health student grants to strengthen regional care

29 May 2026

The program supports students entering speech pathology and occupational therapy careers by offering financial assistance to help them move into regional Victoria after graduation.

More than 250 new grants, each worth up to $15,000, will be made available to help cover relocation and early employment costs for students choosing to work in regional communities.

The initiative aims to make it easier for graduates to take up roles outside major cities, helping improve access to allied health services in rural and regional areas.

The program has already seen strong demand, with all previous rounds fully subscribed and 442 grants awarded to date.

Speech pathologists help people with communication and swallowing difficulties, while occupational therapists support individuals to carry out everyday activities such as self-care, work, education and social participation.

The next round of applications will open in October 2026, with funding expected to be distributed in early 2027.

More information is available through the Victorian Government’s SPOTS Grant Program.
