Strong Results for First RACGP Exams of 2026

Over 16–17 January, more than 2,200 future GPs sat for the exams, with 1,117 attempting the AKT and 1,127 the KFP.
Key results:

KFP 2026.1: 84.12% pass rate (up from 79.57% in 2025.2 and 76.89% in 2025.1)

AKT 2026.1: 80.57% pass rate (up from 79.41% in 2025.2 and 79.48% in 2025.1)
Insights from RACGP advisors:

Dr Sharnti Caulley (AKT Advisor): The mean AKT score was 75.79%, with around 30% achieving the highest pass band (P4).

Dr Emilie Pitter (KFP Advisor): First-time KFP candidates achieved the highest pass rates — 90.08% on their first attempt, dropping to 62.4% and 61.76% on the second and third attempts.
Pass rates for the AKT also fell with subsequent attempts:

51.4% third attempt
The RACGP continues to support candidates with exam reports, self-assessment tests on gplearning, and detailed topic indexes mapped to the RACGP Curriculum to help identify knowledge gaps and guide revision.
