Review completed on medicine stockholding rules in Australia
24 Apr 2026
The policy, introduced on 1 July 2023, requires suppliers to keep between four and six months’ supply of selected Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) medicines in Australia.
The review examined the policy’s impact on medicine shortages, as well as how effectively companies are meeting the requirements.
An executive summary has been released, outlining key findings and recommending improvements to strengthen the system.
The summary is available online under the ‘24 Month Review’ section of the relevant webpage.
