RACGP confirms registrar placements not based on bulk-billing
18 Feb 2026
The statement follows concerns from the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine about a bulk-billing clause in the new AGPT Grant agreement.
RACGP President Michael Wright said positive placement experiences remain central to GP training, and registrars will not be forced into practices solely because of billing models.
This year, 1,772 doctors will start GP training, with a further 1,110 applying, highlighting the importance of matching placements to both community and registrar priorities.
