RACGP Conference Focuses on Building Stronger GP Practices
25 May 2026
The conference focused on helping practices handle growing pressures around patient care, staffing, finances, technology, and business operations.
Opening the event, Dr Rebekah Hoffman spoke about the challenge of balancing clinical care with the business side of running a practice.
This year’s theme, “Stronger in Practice”, reflected the ongoing changes affecting healthcare across Australia.
Dr Michael Wright said practices are dealing with rapid technology changes, new healthcare providers, Medicare reforms, and increasing pressure to remain financially sustainable while continuing to provide quality care.
Sessions throughout the conference covered leadership, finance, digital systems, artificial intelligence, rural practice sustainability, and upcoming Medicare changes.
Delegates also discussed emergency planning, branding, and ways to improve practice workflows under new digital Medicare processes expected from July.
The conference included the launch of a new learning module by the National Association of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners to support culturally safe care in general practice.
Dr Wright said the conference gave healthcare professionals the opportunity to share ideas and find practical ways to strengthen their practices and improve patient care across Australia.
