Queensland Vaping Supplier Fined Over Therapeutic Vape Information Requests
09 Jul 2026
The infringement notices were issued in March 2026 after the company allegedly failed to provide requested supply information as required under the conditions of exemption for therapeutic vaping goods. Canngea Pty Ltd has agreed to pay the notices.
The TGA reminds sponsors that therapeutic vapes for smoking cessation and nicotine dependence are only available through participating pharmacies when clinically appropriate. Although these products are not pre-approved by the TGA, sponsors must comply with the requirements of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.
Under the legislation, sponsors must keep accurate records and provide requested information to the TGA within the required timeframe. Supplying false or misleading information is an offence and may lead to regulatory action.
The TGA said sponsors are responsible for understanding and meeting their legal obligations before supplying therapeutic vaping goods. Failure to comply may result in infringement notices, supply restrictions or further civil or criminal enforcement action.
The regulator said the action forms part of its ongoing compliance and enforcement program for therapeutic goods, including therapeutic vaping products.
