Public Invited to Help Shape Australia's Medical Research Funding
17 Jul 2026
The Australian Medical Research Advisory Board (AMRAB) is seeking feedback on the draft Australian Medical Research and Innovation Strategy 2026–2031 and the Australian Medical Research and Innovation Priorities 2026–2028.
The MRFF is the Australian Government's $25.4 billion long-term investment in health and medical research. AMRAB provides independent advice to the Government on where funding should be directed to improve health outcomes and support innovation.
Every five years, AMRAB develops a new strategy that sets the vision, goals and objectives for the MRFF. Every two years, it also updates the funding priorities to ensure investment focuses on Australia's most important health challenges.
Individuals and organisations can provide feedback by completing an online survey before 16 August 2026.
AMRAB will also host an information webinar at 11:00 am AEST on 4 August 2026, where Chair Professor Kathryn North AC will present the draft strategy and priorities and explain the consultation process.
The feedback received will help shape future investment in Australian health and medical research.
