PBS wholesale mark-up fees Updated from July 1

29 May 2026

A new fact sheet has been released explaining the updated WMU arrangements under the First Pharmaceutical Wholesaler Agreement (1PWA).

From 1 July 2026, a revised WMU structure will apply to PBS medicines. The changes will update the current rate system and adjust how mark-ups are calculated for certain medicines.

The fact sheet explains what is changing, when the changes start, and how the new calculation method will work. It also outlines what will stay the same, and includes worked examples and frequently asked questions to help pharmacies understand the update.

The aim of the changes is to improve clarity around how wholesale mark-ups are applied within the PBS system.

More information is available through the official PBS fact sheet.
