28 Oct 2026

At its September 2026 meeting, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) recommended changes to the PBS restrictions for 14 low-cost antidepressants. The proposed changes aim to better match subsidised access with current clinical practice in Australia.

The medicines reviewed include citalopram, clomipramine, desvenlafaxine, duloxetine, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, mianserin, mirtazapine, moclobemide, nortriptyline, paroxetine, sertraline and venlafaxine.

The PBAC’s public summary document is now available on the Australian Government’s PBS website.
