Our Guidance pages have changed
25 Nov 2024
Guidance is now clearer to understand, easier to navigate and more reliable. It’s easier to keep track of changes to Guidance and understand the rules you need to follow.
New Guidance section
We have moved our content that helps to explain the law into a new Guidance section.
We now define Guidance as content that ‘explains the laws and regulations governing the development, manufacturing, marketing, and supply of therapeutic goods in Australia.’
On the Guidance listing page, you can filter Guidance by audience, product type, topic or the year it was last updated. You can also search within Guidance.

You can use filters and a search function to find specific Guidance.
Navigating Guidance
We have improved page navigation with useful new features.
Sticky navigation
Sticky navigation makes it easy to move through long pages. Once you scroll past the ‘On this page’ menu, the sticky navigation appears as the top of the page and allows you to jump to headings.

Detailed table of contents
On pages with many headings and subheadings, the detailed table of contents allows you to see them all and jump directly to a specific heading. Click ‘Show detailed table of contents’ to expand the section, which is under the usual ‘On this page’ menu. You will only see this feature on longer pages where it is needed.

Keeping track of changes
It’s now easier to know when we publish new Guidance or make changes.
Visual indicators for new or updated Guidance
Visual indicators flag pages that have been recently published or updated. These indicators appear on the Guidance listing page, and on individual Guidance pages. These indicators stay up for 30 days.

Clear links to related legislation
We heard feedback that it wasn’t always clear which laws Guidance was helping to explain. In response, we’ve introduced changes to help make the link between Guidance and legislation clearer.
A list of related legislation now appears on each Guidance page, clearly showing the laws it is explaining.

The ‘Legislation’ section clearly shows the laws the Guidance is explaining.
