New Video Explains Aged Care Provider Registration Categories
13 Jan 2026
Under the Aged Care Act, all providers delivering government-funded aged care services must now be registered.
Providers are classified into six registration categories based on risk and service type:
-
Home and community services
-
Assistive technology and home modifications
-
Advisory and support services
-
Nursing and transition care
-
Residential care
Providers operating in categories 4, 5, or 6 are also required to meet the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, which ensure care is:
-
Respectful of dignity, privacy, and rights
-
Tailored to each older person’s needs, goals, and preferences
-
Aligned with best practice in quality aged care
The video is designed to support providers in understanding registration requirements and delivering high-quality, person-centred care in line with the updated standards.
