New National Campaign Aims to Raise Awareness of Perimenopause and Menopause
25 May 2026
The campaign aims to reduce confusion and stigma by encouraging open conversations and providing evidence-based resources about symptoms, treatment options, and available support.
Health experts say experiences vary widely. Around 1 in 2 women report mild to moderate symptoms, while about 1 in 4 experience symptoms severe enough to affect daily life.
Many people report feeling unprepared for this stage of life and find it difficult to access clear and trustworthy information.
The campaign encourages people who notice symptoms to recognise them early and seek help when needed. It also highlights that every person’s experience is different.
Developed in consultation with experts and people with lived experience, the initiative is designed to improve understanding and support across the community.
More information and campaign resources are available at health.gov.au/perimenopause.
