New Funding Opportunity for Culturally Safe Mental Health Support in South Western Sydney

New Funding Opportunity for Culturally Safe Mental Health Support in South Western Sydney

10 Mar 2026

The aim is to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who may find it difficult to access mainstream mental health services.

Procurement details

Expressions of Interest will open on Monday, 16 March.
Further details will be available on the SWSPHN website and Tenderlink from that date.

Why this program is being introduced

The new services will work alongside the national Medicare Mental Health Check-In (MMHCI) service, which is expected to roll out in 2026.

The MMHCI program offers guided and self-guided cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) programs online. To avoid duplicating these services, the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has directed SWSPHN to focus on local programs that support people who cannot access mainstream services or whose needs are not fully met by them.

Who can apply

Organisations that already deliver low intensity mental health support for:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and/or

  • Culturally and linguistically diverse communities

within South Western Sydney are encouraged to apply.

SWSPHN may appoint one or more providers to cover different areas and community groups, depending on the quality and value of submissions.

Information session

An online information session will be held on Wednesday, 25 March at 10am via Zoom for organisations interested in applying.
