New Expert Panel to Shape Australia’s Medical Research Future
07 Apr 2026
AMRAB is an independent group that sets the national strategy and priorities for medical research and innovation. The government selects members carefully to make sure the board has the right mix of skills and experience to make important funding decisions.
The new members were chosen through an open nomination process. They bring knowledge in medical research, healthcare systems, finance, business, and philanthropy.
The board also represents a wide range of voices, including patients, communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, regional and remote areas, and culturally diverse groups.
Experts from Canada and the United Kingdom will also join as advisors, sharing insights from their own health systems.
This new board replaces former members, including Deputy Chair Professor Caroline Homer AO. The government has thanked them for their work and dedication over the past five years.
