New campaign urges Aussies to talk to their GP about vaccines
24 Apr 2026
The campaign was launched ahead of World Immunisation Week. It comes as more people feel unsure about where to get reliable health information and how to make decisions about vaccines.
Federal AMA President, Dr Danielle McMullen, said false information spreads quickly online. She warned that new technology, like deepfakes, can make wrong information seem real.
She said this can confuse people who are trying to make the best choices for their health.
The campaign aims to support Australians who feel unsure or overwhelmed. It encourages them to speak with a GP, where they can get advice that is safe, private and suited to their needs.
The push comes as misinformation and anti-science views continue to affect public trust, while vaccination rates are dropping.
Immunisation is one of the most effective and affordable ways to prevent disease. Experts warn that lower vaccination rates could lead to the return of preventable illnesses, putting more pressure on busy hospitals and emergency departments.
