New Aged Care Funding Trial Opens in Australia

New Aged Care Funding Trial Opens in Australia

28 Apr 2026

Up to 10 approved providers will be selected to take part in the trial. It will explore whether combining parts of individual care budgets can improve flexibility and support better care for people living in shared or close communities.

The trial is designed to help older Australians have more choice and control over the care they receive at home. It also aims to improve service quality, make better use of funding, and match care more closely to individual needs.

Applications are open to providers working in retirement villages, rural and remote areas, First Nations communities, culturally diverse groups, and shared housing settings, including people at risk of homelessness.

Successful providers will be required to take part in formal evaluation activities during the trial. The results may help shape future aged care funding models in Australia.

Applications must be submitted through GrantConnect and close at 2pm (AEDT) on 29 May 2026. Providers can also access guidelines and supporting tools on the same platform.
