NDIS Seeks Feedback on the Future of Supported Independent Living

12 Aug 2026

SIL provides help with everyday activities for people with disability who need a high level of support to live more independently.

The consultation is open to people with disability, families, carers, advocates, providers and support workers.

The Government wants to understand what good SIL services should look like and where improvements may be needed.

It is also considering whether a commissioning model could improve the way some SIL services are planned, funded, delivered and monitored.

Under this approach, the Government could have a greater role in organising and overseeing some services.

No final decisions have been made about future SIL arrangements. Feedback from the consultation will help inform the Government’s options and next steps.
