NDIS reform Bill introduced to strengthen long-term sustainability
14 May 2026
The Bill proposes changes to the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 aimed at strengthening the long-term sustainability of the NDIS.
The proposed reforms focus on:
- Clarifying eligibility for NDIS support and what the scheme will fund
- Strengthening measures to address fraud within the system
- Updating governance and administrative arrangements
The government says the changes are intended to ensure the NDIS remains sustainable for people with permanent and significant disability, as well as for future generations who will rely on the scheme.
According to the government, the reforms aim to place the NDIS on a more stable financial and operational footing moving forward.
