Health practitioners reminded to renew registration before 30 November
07 Oct 2026
The renewal period is open for practitioners seeking to renew general, specialist or non-practising registration.
The deadline applies to:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners
- Chinese medicine practitioners
- Chiropractors
- Dental practitioners
- Medical radiation practitioners
- Occupational therapists
- Optometrists
- Osteopaths
- Paramedics
- Pharmacists
- Physiotherapists
- Podiatrists
- Surgical podiatrists
- Psychologists
Ahpra will send practitioners an email with instructions on how to access their online portal and complete their renewal.
Practitioners who have changed or replaced their mobile phone, or changed or deleted their multifactor authentication (MFA) app, may need to reset their MFA before they can log in.
Those who need help can request an MFA reset through Ahpra’s online enquiry form.
Practitioners who have taken at least six months of continuous leave because of a protected attribute may also be eligible for a 30% rebate on their renewal fee. This can include parental leave, disability or carer status.
The rebate must be requested as part of the renewal application and, if approved, will be applied automatically when the fee is paid.
Practitioners who submit their renewal by 30 November, or during the one-month late period, can continue practising while their application is being assessed, provided their name remains on the register.
If registration is not renewed by 31 December 2026, it will lapse. The practitioner will then be removed from the register and will no longer be able to use their profession’s protected title.
Ahpra’s renewal information also covers professional indemnity insurance, continuing professional development, recency of practice and requirements for declaring changes to criminal history or health impairments.
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander practitioners can also receive one-on-one support from Ahpra’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement and Support team during the renewal process.
