She has been a medical practitioner for over 30 years, with more than 25 years in general practice, including over 15 years working in South Western Sydney.

Passion for general practice

Dr Aggarwal said she has always enjoyed her work and finds it hard to imagine stepping away from it. She was drawn to medicine early in life and has remained committed to the profession ever since.

Focus on patient relationships

She highlighted the importance of long-term relationships with patients, particularly those managing chronic conditions. Seeing improvements in patients’ health and wellbeing is described as her main source of job satisfaction.

Community involvement

Dr Aggarwal is actively involved in community education, running public talks and group sessions on topics such as women’s health, bone health, and falls prevention. She noted that group settings help patients feel more comfortable asking questions and engaging in their care.

Working in South Western Sydney

She described the region as diverse, with many patients facing barriers to specialist care. This, she said, makes the role of GPs especially important in ensuring patients receive ongoing support.

Personal interests and wellbeing

Outside of work, Dr Aggarwal enjoys classical dance, painting, and walking with other doctors, which she said provides both social connection and professional support.

Health advice for patients

Dr Aggarwal shared three simple health tips:

  • Walk at least 15 minutes daily
  • Eat balanced, home-prepared meals with more fruits and vegetables and fewer refined carbohydrates
  • Maintain positive social connections to support mental wellbeing

She also acknowledged the influence of her parents, teachers, and GP supervisors as key role models throughout her life and career.
