Four Queensland healthcare recipients recognised at RACGP Awards

The awards cover four areas of general practice, with recognition going to Dr Andrew Spall, Hawthorne Clinic, Dr Annie George and Dr Charlotte Lovejoy.
Dr Spall received the GP of the Year award. His work includes caring for the Tewantin community and helping doctors during their GP training. He has supervised registrars and travelled to different parts of Queensland to support clinical teaching, including areas where healthcare services are limited.
The General Practice of the Year award went to Brisbane's Hawthorne Clinic.
The practice has remained at its current site for a century. Its work includes caring for families, managing long-term health conditions, supporting preventive healthcare and providing training for medical professionals.
Dr Annie George was named General Practice Supervisor of the Year for her work with doctors undertaking GP training.
Her role involves more than scheduled teaching. She also provides ongoing support to trainees and contributes to their development in a supportive learning environment.
The GP in Training of the Year award was presented to Dr Charlotte Lovejoy, who works in Kingaroy.
Her work involves providing continuing care for patients in the region while also assisting with acute healthcare. She has continued to build her rural skills, including further training in aged care.
Dr Lovejoy has also spoken publicly about her experience as a rural GP registrar, including at the RACGP's GP25 conference.
RACGP Queensland Chair Dr Cathryn Hester congratulated this year's recipients and acknowledged their work in patient care, medical training and community healthcare.
