First BBPIP payments to reach GPs by end of January

15 Jan 2026

The program, which launched on 1 November 2025, provides a 12.5% incentive payment on top of standard Medicare benefits for practices that bulk bill eligible services. Payments are shared equally between individual GPs and clinic owners.

As of 8 January 2026, more than 3,200 practices across Australia had registered, an increase from the 2,902 registered at the end of November. About 58% of these practices were already bulk billing all eligible patients before enrolling in the program.

To help practices track their eligibility and projected payments, Services Australia recently introduced a new online tool. This allows clinics to monitor bulk billing percentages, forecast quarterly payments, and confirm final assessments once requirements are met.

Clinics are advised to check registration details, bank information, accreditation status, and provide separate provider numbers for each site. Every participating GP must bulk bill all eligible services to qualify for the incentive.

For detailed guidance on registering and submitting bank details, practices can visit the DoHDA website.
