Early Intervention Helps Children Start School with Confidence
07 Jul 2026
Early referral to services such as speech pathology, occupational therapy, psychology and family-based programs can improve a child's school readiness by addressing challenges early. These supports help build communication, emotional regulation, social skills and independence.
Research shows that children who receive early intervention are more likely to adjust well to school, participate in learning and develop positive relationships with their peers.
By recognising concerns early and connecting families with appropriate services, GPs can help children begin their education with greater confidence and the skills needed for long-term success.
