DonateLife Week Highlights the Importance of Organ Donor Registration
27 Jul 2026
Thousands of people across Australia are currently waiting for an organ or tissue transplant, and for some, a suitable donor could mean the difference between life and death. Health officials are reminding Australians that registering as a donor takes only a minute and can be completed through DonateLife or Medicare.
Registering is only part of the process. In Australia, families are always asked to confirm a person's donation wishes before donation can proceed. Having a conversation with loved ones about your decision can help ensure your wishes are understood and respected.
DonateLife Week is Australia's national awareness campaign to encourage more people to register and have these important conversations with their families.
