A total of 70 scholarships were provided by South Western Sydney Primary Health Network (SWSPHN), with funding support from the Cancer Institute NSW, to help nurses undertake Cervical Screening Comprehensive Skills Training.

The program is aimed at increasing participation in cervical screening by improving access to both speculum-based testing and self-collection options within general practices.

The training is delivered by Family Planning Australia clinical educators and combines online learning with practical, hands-on sessions to build clinical confidence.

Two face-to-face workshops were held at the SWSPHN office in Campbelltown in April and June, allowing 36 nurses to complete the training locally.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen preventive health services and make cervical screening more accessible in primary care settings.

Family Planning Australia continues to offer similar training programs at locations across Sydney throughout the year.
