Australian Aged Care Survey Finds Higher Resident Satisfaction
28 Oct 2026
The 2025 Residents’ Experience Survey gathered feedback from more than 44,000 residents across 2,589 aged care homes. The findings show that more residents feel respected, listened to and involved in decisions about their daily lives.
Key findings from the survey include:
- 89% of residents would recommend their aged care home to others, up from 85% in 2023.
- 93% said they could have a say in their daily activities, compared with 87% in 2023.
- 96% said they were treated with respect, felt safe and found staff kind and caring.
- 85% were satisfied with how staff followed up on issues they raised.
Food and dining remained the area with the lowest satisfaction. Only 69% of residents reported positive experiences, a result similar to 2023.
The survey results can help aged care providers understand residents’ needs and identify areas where services could improve.
Residents’ feedback also contributes to the Overall Star Rating for each aged care home, accounting for one-third of the rating. These ratings help older people, their families and carers compare services and make informed decisions about aged care.
