AMA NSW Farewells Long-Serving CEO After 28 Years of Service
04 Jun 2026
Fiona Davies first joined AMA NSW in 1998 within its industrial relations team and went on to serve 18 years as CEO, leading major advocacy and policy achievements for the medical profession.
Over her tenure, she played a key role in maintaining NSW’s separate medical complaints system, keeping it outside the national accreditation and registration framework managed by AHPRA.
She also led the “Kids Don’t Fly” campaign, which contributed to changes in NSW law requiring window safety locks in apartment buildings, improving child safety and reducing preventable injuries.
Federal AMA President Dr Danielle McMullen paid tribute to Ms Davies, acknowledging her long-standing leadership and influence across the profession.
She described her as a “cornerstone of the profession” in NSW, noting her fairness, commitment and strong advocacy over nearly three decades.
Dr McMullen also highlighted Ms Davies’ mentorship of doctors throughout their careers and her role in guiding the organisation through major health system and policy challenges.
The Federal AMA said it looks forward to continuing collaboration with incoming CEO Dominique Egan, while acknowledging Ms Davies’ significant contribution to medical leadership and advocacy in Australia.
