AJGP Invites GPs to Help Shape the Future of Australia's Leading General Practice Journal

The Australian Journal of General Practice (AJGP) is seeking expressions of interest from GPs who would like to join its newly established Journal Advisory Committee (JAC).
The committee will provide strategic advice to the AJGP Editor-in-Chief and publications team, helping shape the journal's long-term direction and ensure it continues to meet the needs of Australia's general practice community.
Professor David Wilkinson, Editor-in-Chief of the AJGP, said the committee will strengthen engagement with GPs and support the journal's ongoing development. He said the goal is to ensure the publication remains practical, relevant, and valuable for Australian clinicians.
Professor Paul Glasziou has been appointed as the inaugural Chair of the committee. Under his leadership, the AJGP is seeking 3–5 members to serve terms of up to three years, with the opportunity for renewal.
Committee members will provide strategic guidance, contribute to the journal's continuous improvement, attend up to three meetings each year, participate in discussions, and promote the AJGP through their professional networks.
The AJGP reaches around 36,000 print readers each edition and receives millions of online page views every year. Its audience includes GPs, registrars, international medical graduates, primary care academics, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
Professor Glasziou said one of the committee's priorities will be improving the relevance and accessibility of research published in the journal. He hopes to strengthen communication between researchers and frontline clinicians so research better reflects the needs of primary care and can be more easily applied in everyday practice.
Applications to join the Journal Advisory Committee close on 14 August.
