A warm welcome back to the West
17 Oct 2024
This week marked the return of WA doctors into the AMA federation.
Writing to members this week AMA President Dr Danielle McMullen and AMA Board Chair Associate Professor Andrew C Miller said there was “no doubt that — as a profession — we are stronger when we work together. We have a federated health system, and now WA doctors, as with AMA members in other states, will have a strong advocate at both levels of government.”
“Going forward, we expect to be working closely with AMA WA, as we do with all state and territory AMAs on how we can deliver for you, our members, whether it be on the concerning viability issues we are currently seeing in the private health system; the need to tackle the public hospital logjam and enormous funding shortfall; the absolute imperative to shore up the cornerstone of the health system, general practice; or the myriad of regulatory issues facing all doctors at both a state and federal level.”
“It's clear there is much to be done, and we are delighted that going forward together, that’s where the focus of both our organisations will continue be.”
