$40 million funding boost for nurse, midwife and allied health research

The 2026 Clinician Researchers: Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health grant opportunity will provide up to $40 million for research led by clinicians.
The funding is designed to help health professionals combine clinical work with research, so research projects can focus on real challenges faced in healthcare settings.
Eligible projects will support research within health services that can:
- help bring research findings into everyday clinical practice
- strengthen the health system
- support the nursing, midwifery and allied health workforce
- improve health services.
The funding is part of the MRFF’s Clinician Researchers initiative, which aims to help healthcare professionals build their research skills while contributing to improvements in patient care.
