$23 Million Boost for Long COVID Research in Australia

13 Apr 2026

PASC refers to symptoms that continue for more than 12 weeks after a COVID-19 infection. It can affect daily life and make normal activities difficult. Experts are still working to understand why it happens and how best to treat it.

The funding will support research projects that:

  • Study the biological causes and different types of long COVID
  • Explore early-stage treatments and medical interventions
  • Compare long COVID with other post-viral conditions like ME/CFS, POTS, and fibromyalgia
  • Test and evaluate better care models for patients across the health system

Applications are currently open via official government grant platforms.
