POLAR Puffin Helps GPs Save Time in South Western Sydney
08 Apr 2026
South Western Sydney is growing quickly, with over one million residents. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO, 2025), people are living longer than ever.
A joint report by SWSPHN and the Local Health District shows the region’s ageing population is rising fast. By 2031, people aged 65+ will increase by 74%, and those aged 85+ will almost double.
More Pressure on Healthcare
The area has the highest rates of preventable hospital visits in NSW. Many cases, like infections and heart conditions, could be managed earlier through primary care.
As the population ages, demand for GP services and aged care is expected to grow significantly.
GPACI and the Puffin Solution
The General Practice in Aged Care Incentive (GPACI), launched in 2024, supports better care for aged care residents. However, many GPs found the admin workload challenging.
POLAR Puffin was created to fix this. It helps practices track GPACI requirements, reduce errors, and spend more time with patients.
Supporting Better Care
Puffin also supports quality improvement by helping practices:
- Track patient care and requirements
- Identify vaccination needs
- Monitor progress over time
It’s available at no extra cost for POLAR users.
