Jane McKellar and Emma Young have joined as independent directors, while Dr Sarah Bishop Browne and Nadim Assaf have been elected to the Board. Simon Waring has also secured a second three-year term.

McKellar brings extensive experience in board and executive roles across ASX-listed companies and international organisations. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, with expertise in governance, risk management, strategy and organisational change. She also has a long-standing connection to palliative care through her involvement with Bear Cottage, a children’s hospice in NSW.

Young is currently Director of People and Finance at Orange Sky Australia and New Zealand. Her previous roles include Chief Financial Officer at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Foundation and Corporate Services Manager at Karuna Hospice Services. Her experience covers finance, governance, people management and organisational performance.

Dr Bishop Browne is a palliative medicine specialist at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney. She has worked across metropolitan, community and regional services and understands the challenges of workforce shortages and access to care. She also contributes to national clinical guidance and research into end-of-life care.

Assaf is a pharmacist, healthcare entrepreneur and company director with more than 13 years of leadership experience in community pharmacy, aged care and medication management. As the founder and director of MediConnex, he brings knowledge of medication safety, governance and care quality.

PCA has also thanked departing Board members Janelle Reid, Rachel Coghlan and Dr Simon Menelaws for their service and contributions to the organisation.

Their work has supported PCA’s efforts to advocate for people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families and carers. The organisation has wished all three well in their future endeavours.
