New Changes Coming to PBS Wholesale Fees for Pharmacies
22 May 2026
A new fact sheet has been released explaining the updated wholesale mark-up (WMU) system under the First Pharmaceutical Wholesaler Agreement (1PWA), which applies to medicines supplied through community pharmacies.
The updated structure will change how WMU rates are set and how they are calculated for some PBS medicines. However, some parts of the system will remain the same.
The fact sheet also outlines when the changes will start, what is staying unchanged, and includes worked examples and frequently asked questions to help pharmacies understand the update.
Further details are available in the First Pharmaceutical Wholesaler Agreement fact sheet.
