New 24-hour mental health crisis centre opens in WA

The Western Australian Government has committed $88.1 million to expand mental health facilities at Fremantle Hospital.

The new centre is the first 24/7 mental health crisis service of its kind in Western Australia. It is designed to provide timely assessment, early intervention and support for people who need urgent mental health care.

The service provides another option for people who may otherwise attend an emergency department during a mental health crisis.

People can access the centre through referrals from ambulance services, police, hospital emergency departments and healthcare professionals. Self-referral is also available.
